The Luxurious Lives of Vending Machines

Agency Mother London had a mission — to celebrate London 2012 by giving everyone a free Coke.

We dig the idea and it seems like the crowd got a kick out of the experience. It reminded us somewhat of these giant soda machine showers that we saw on the beaches of Brazil back in May.

We decided to further investigate this underground phenomenon of the vending machine and its place in society today.

Last year for New York City Fashion Week, the Hudson Hotel collaborated with designers from CFDA’s Fashion Incubator to create the Semi-Automatic. This luxury vending machine was stocked full of items from the season’s top designers and even included a diamond and wood strand bracelet and a rabbit fur coat.

If you forgot your PSP or iPod while traveling through Nevada, at the Las Vegas Hilton you can get both.

Misplaced your favorite bar of gold? Gold-to-Go has you covered.

If you forgot the hours for that bakery in France, Jean-Louis Hecht and his automated baguette dispenser promises warm bread day or night.

And our all time favorite — for when you can’t get to the beach, the vending machine that dispenses live crabs found in Nanjing, China.
