Back on May 25th, Psyop hosted a star-studded (in our eyes) summit of Softimage artists. Knowledge was shared. Secrets were divulged. Beer was consumed.
Now if you don’t know what Softimage ICE is, there is very little chance you will find this interesting. You will be especially annoyed by the quiet audio and near absence of editing.
If, however, you do know what Softimage ICE is, there is a very good chance you will find this riveting. For this select group of visitors: you’re welcome.
Presenters included:
- Vladimir Jankijevic, Elefant Studios (Zurich, Switzerland)
- Andy Jones, Massmarket (LA, USA)
- Jonah Friedman, Psyop (NY, USA)
- Fabio Piparo and Eban Byrne (NY, USA)

Fantastic. Thanks.
Wow, thanks for posting, really would have appreciated a heads up about this on the XSI NYC user group.
Cheers

User group? Who said anything about a user group? ;-)
This was a session geared towards internal development. We’re sharing out of the goodness in our hearts, but if we do hear about a user group meeting of some sort, we’ll let you know. Sounds like a good idea to us.
I was there and it definitely wasn’t a closed event, the heads up had a very short window (i.e. something like a few days). I definitely enjoyed the event and learned a lot in the process. I would definitely categorize the event as XSI ICE porn.
Thanks for clarifying that, Jonathan!
Referring to the NYC XSI user group last month at Autodesk where Mark demo’d a couple new features in 2013. Just figured that the world of ICE is rarefied enough to allow for a couple vagrants into the temple.
Cheers

Hey Aaron – You can also subscribe to the official Softimage mailing list hosted by Autodesk proper. I don’t have the subscribe links handy but that’s typically the first place where we would announce these things.
But yeah it was a super short window for sure but Vlad was only in town for a bit longer, we had work to do.. etc etc
Fantastic presentation.
Maybe with more of this in the public eye, more and more people will start to use this wonderful tool for what it is…
Based on the interest in this comment thread, I’m going to try getting the team together to do another one of these ICE workshops. If you want to be included on the mailer for the invite, drop me a line at jcone@psyop.tv.
Thanks, all!
That sounds awesome, I’ll prepare a little better for the next one. :)
Great classes team,
