Creative Technologist (LA)

Priorities

The Creative Technologists priorities are (in order):

• To aid in the winning of interactive work for Psyop
• To establish partnerships as necessary to win and produce interactive work
• To recruit and nurture in-house talent

Tasks

Broadly speaking, the Creative Technologist’s tasks include:

Revenue

• working collaboratively with Psyop EPs and Creative Directors to create the best possible interactive solutions for a given brief
• writing treatments (or portions of treatments) proposing solutions for interactive components of a pitch
• preparing estimates for interactive components of a pitch
• assembling teams to produce interactive pitches (or interactive components of a pitch)
• communicating the roles of technology for a given project in a clear, concise manner to internal and external parties
• working with clients and their constituents to build consensus around interactive projects

Relationships

• creating and fostering relationships with interactive studios, individual digital artists and relevant vendors
• creating and fostering relationships with relevant counterparts in advertising agencies, including heads of integrated production, interactive creatives and interactive producers
• helping Psyop management identity business opportunities in the interactive space
• fostering a culture of creative and technological excellence within Psyop

Research

• keeping up with current and developing trends in interactive production
• attending relevant gatherings and conferences to keep abreast of trends and establish new relationships
• occasionally writing on the Psyop blog about research findings

Experience + Skills

The Creative Technologist should have:

• 5-10 years experience directing and/or producing interactive solutions for the advertising, marketing and/or entertainment industries
• an undergraduate degree in a relevant field
• experience leading teams of 5 or more people
• client communication experience
• basic estimating and bidding experience
• general knowledge of contemporary software development practices
• general knowledge of current consumer technologies and their applications within the context of advertising and entertainment
• general knowledge of post-production processes

We are currently in search of Sr. Nuke Compositors for our LA & NY offices.

We are looking for both staff and freelance talent. All candidates MUST be able to work in-house at either our LA or NY offices.

• Minimum 4+ years of node-based compositing for commercials, episodic or feature
• Comprehensive understanding of Nuke, high dynamic range source material, working in 2D and 3D space and the utilization of multiple render passes
• Ability to work with a variety of source material including film, video, CG and digital assets to create a cohesive image
• A detailed “eye” for photo-real color, composition, lighting and movement
• General understanding of 3D lighting/shading and photography
• Ability to tackle the most difficult of shots, work both independently and within a team environment

We are seeking accomplished, hands on producers that are great communicators, have solid leadership skills and are team players. The applicant must have:

• 5+ years experience producing high end commercials
• Must have sound understanding of the 3d & 2d pipeline and process
• Must be self motivated, show initiative and exude calm in stressful situations
• Must be highly organized and show a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills when liasing with both our internal teams and clients.
• Must have a passion for animation, design and live action production.
• Solid understanding and experience with budgeting, scheduling and actualizing
• Must be open and willing to source freelance or staff talent
• On set experience preferred.
